Mini Cooper Oil Temperature Warning Light Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Mini Cooper owner is experiencing an issue with the oil temperature warning light appearing on the speedometer, accompanied by an error related to the oil temperature sensor and intermittent oil pressure warning. The initial suspicion is a defective cable or plug connection. Another person with a similar experience suggests checking the wiring and connector for corrosion or damage, as these can cause such issues. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty oil temperature sensor and defective cable and plug connection, which were resolved at a workshop.

Yeah, the gauge was all over the place too, acting erratically. Honestly, save yourself the headache and just get it checked at a workshop. A faulty temp sensor can cause issues, and it's better to be safe than sorry. Especially with the oil pressure light coming on you don't want to risk damaging the engine.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you had this issue, did the oil gauge read incorrectly as well, or was it just the warning lights? I'm trying to narrow it down further before taking it to a mechanic.

Got my Mini back. You were spot on it was the oil temperature sensor. The cable and plug connection were defective, as suspected. It cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Thanks a million for your help!

Sounds like the exact problem I had with my Mini! Same oil temperature warning light, error codes, and even the oil pressure light flickering. For me, it was the oil temp sensor. Have you checked the wiring and the connector itself? They can get corroded or damaged easily.
