Mini Cooper rail pressure sensor issue

My 2019 Mini Cooper is acting up. It has 115109 km. The check engine light is on, it stalls at idle, and the engine power is reduced. I'm getting a 'rail pressure sensor signal faulty' error. I suspect a defective pressure sensor is the culprit. Anyone else run into this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old Alfa Romeo. Check engine light, stalling... it was the fuel pressure regulator in my case. Could be the pressure sensor like you suspect. Does it happen more when the engine is cold?

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. I hadn't considered temperature. I'm fairly sure the sensor signal is causing the issue. When your Alfa had that problem, did it throw any specific error codes related to the fuel injection or fuel rail?

Yes, it definitely threw fuel rail pressure codes. I tried cleaning the sensor first, but that didn't do anything. Ultimately, I had to replace the regulator. Given your symptoms and the error code, replacing the sensor is probably the right move. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop to be certain though.

Thanks for the input. I took it to the shop, and it turned out to be a faulty rail pressure sensor, just as I suspected. New sensor installed, and now she's running smoothly again. Cost me 240€ all in.
