Mini Cooper Rear Ventilation Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mini Cooper diesel is experiencing issues with the rear ventilation flap, leading to climate control malfunctions and ineffective air conditioning. The problem is suspected to be due to a faulty cable or plug connection. However, another individual with a similar issue suggests that the flap actuator might be the cause, as it was in their case. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the rear ventilation flap actuator was indeed faulty, and replacing it resolved the issue.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

How did you pinpoint the flap actuator? Was it throwing a specific code, or did you have to dig deeper? I've seen the error memory, and I know it indicates the rear ventilation flap. I am just wondering what steps you took before replacing the actuator. Is there any chance it could be something else causing the problem?

Yeah, the code pointed me straight to the flap actuator. Honestly, I didn't do much digging beyond that. Given the symptoms and the error code, it seemed like the most likely culprit. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can probably diagnose it properly before you start throwing parts at it. But if the code and symptoms match, it's a pretty good bet.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The rear ventilation flap actuator was indeed faulty. They replaced it, and the air conditioning is now working perfectly again. Total cost was 95€. Thanks for the help.

Sounds familiar. Had a similar issue with my Mini, although it wasn't the diesel version. The climate control was acting up, and I noticed the air conditioning wasn't cooling properly. Did you check the flap actuator itself? That's where my problem was. Is the automatic climate control working at all, or is it completely dead?
