That is good information. When you refer to voltage drop, what specific values are you considering significant?

Yes, the symptoms you describe are consistent with what I experienced. A voltage drop of more than 0.5 volts while starting, or a resting voltage below 12.4 volts, is a red flag in my experience. Given your symptoms, I'd suggest having the battery professionally tested. It could save you a lot of headache down the road. If the voltage is indeed the issue, it's likely a defective battery.

I appreciate your insight. As it turns out, you were spot on. After a visit to the workshop, it was indeed the battery. A replacement set me back 290€, but the Mini Cooper is now running smoothly. No more electrical problem it seems.

I've experienced a similar electrical problem with my Mini Cooper. Have you checked the battery voltage while the engine is running and when it's off? A significant voltage drop could indicate a faulty battery or a parasitic drain somewhere in the system. Also, inspect the battery terminal connections for corrosion or looseness; even a slight issue there can disrupt the power supply.
