Thanks for the reply. I managed to get the error code read. It points towards the display being defective. Before it died completely, there was no speaker crackle or Bluetooth problem, the audio quality was consistent. I'm not aware of any recent work that could have disturbed the wiring.

Thank you for providing the error code and additional information. Given the error code points towards a display defect, and the absence of prior audio degradation, it is highly probable that the head unit itself is the source of the problem. While it is possible to troubleshoot individual components within the head unit, given the age of the vehicle and the potential complexity, a replacement is often the most practical solution. Considering the estimated repair cost of 725€, I would advise consulting a qualified technician to confirm the diagnosis and perform the replacement. Attempting a DIY repair without the necessary expertise could potentially exacerbate the issue or cause further damage.

Just wanted to update this thread. I took the Countryman to a trusted mechanic. Turns out the error code did point to a faulty head unit as suspected. Replacing it, as you suggested, resolved the issue. Thanks for your input!

The symptoms you describe for your Mini Countryman suggest a few potential issues. The error stored in the memory is a key piece of information. First, could you retrieve the specific error code? This will greatly assist in diagnosing the fault. Second, have you noticed any degradation in audio quality prior to the complete failure, such as speaker crackle or intermittent cut-outs? Finally, has there been any recent work done on the vehicle that might have disturbed the wiring harness related to the audio system?
