Mini Countryman Cold Start Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Mini Countryman is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, suspected to be due to a faulty cold start injector. The issue is characterized by hard starting and rough idling, which are indicative of potential fuel delivery problems. While injector cleaning was suggested as a possible solution, the problem was ultimately confirmed to be a defective injection valve. The resolution involved replacing the faulty injector, which successfully restored smooth engine operation.

Mileage definitely puts injector failure within the realm of possibility. Think of it like this: cleaning might clear some gunk, but a failing injector is like a leaky faucet eventually, you need to replace it. A proper injector test will confirm, but sounds like a workshop visit is in order.

Injector cleaning crossed my mind, but with that many km on the clock, could a simple cleaning really resolve a potentially defective injection valve? I'm leaning towards a more definitive injector test. What are your thoughts?

Confirmed diagnosis of faulty cold start injector. Replacement including labor and injector test came to 515€. Running smoothly now, thanks for the input.

Hard starting and rough idle point to fuel delivery issues. Have you tried an injector cleaning product? It's like a spring cleaning for your fuel rail. Might be worth a shot before diving into replacements.
