Mini Countryman Coolant Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Mini Countryman is experiencing consistently low coolant levels, triggering the check engine light and storing an error in the memory. The diagnostic suggests a possible defective cable or plug connection. Suggestions include checking for coolant leaks, inspecting the coolant reservoir for cracks, and testing or replacing the radiator cap. Ultimately, the issue was identified as a defective plug connection to the coolant reservoir, which was replaced to resolve the problem.

Thanks for your prompt response. I appreciate the suggestions. Regarding the coolant reservoir, how would I identify a crack? Also, is there a way to test the radiator cap, or is it best to just replace it?

Yeah man, cracks in the coolant reservoir can be tricky. Look for hairline fractures or dried coolant residue around the seams. As for the radiator cap, you can get it pressure tested, but honestly, they're cheap. Given the error code points to a connection issue, I'd lean towards that being the culprit first. But seriously, if you aren't 100% confident, just get it to a workshop.

Thank you for the input. It seems you were spot on. I took it to the workshop, and the error memory indicated a defective plug connection to the coolant reservoir. They replaced it, and the total cost was 95€. Hopefully, this resolves the issue permanently.

Whoa, check engine light and low coolant? That's never good news! Dude, seriously, a coolant leak could be the water pump giving up the ghost. Or maybe a hose is loose? Have you checked the coolant reservoir itself for cracks or signs of leakage? And don't forget the radiator cap!
