Mini Countryman Defrost Flap Issue

Thanks for the tip! I'm pretty new to this, so bear with me. When you say 'wiring harness or connector,' are we talking about the one right next to the flap motor itself? And where exactly is the air distribution flap located? Is it accessible without removing the entire dash? I have a multimeter, but any tips on what readings I should be looking for? Also, wouldn’t a bad heater core cause similar symptoms?

Yes, I'm referring to the connector directly at the flap motor. Accessing it can be a bit fiddly, often requiring partial disassembly of the dash components around the center console, however, for a novice I would suggest getting the car to a workshop. As for voltage readings, you should see approximately battery voltage (around 12V-14V) when the system is activated and commanding the flap to move. If the voltage is significantly lower or absent, that indicates a wiring or connector problem. While a failing heater core can indeed cause reduced heating, the specific error code targeting the defrost flap strongly suggests the electrical issue is the primary suspect.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Took the Countryman to the workshop, and you were spot on! They found a loose connector on the defrost flap motor. 95€ later, the temperature regulation is working perfectly, and no more windshield fogging. Thanks a bunch for your help!

Interesting. I seem to recall encountering a similar issue with my Mini Countryman's ventilation system. The reduced heating output and the error code are definitely familiar. Considering the mileage, I'd lean towards a potential problem with the wiring harness or connector to the air distribution flap. Have you checked the voltage at the connector with a multimeter? A faulty blower motor resistor could also be a culprit, but the error code points more directly to the flap motor circuit.
