Mini Countryman Diesel Engine Issues

My 2016 Mini Countryman diesel is throwing up some engine issues. The check engine light is on, and there's a noticeable reduction in engine power. It also idles a bit rough. Car diagnostics suggests a faulty intake air temperature sensor. Anyone experienced similar?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had similar engine issues with my Countryman. Check engine light, rough running, the whole shebang. Did you run car diagnostics? What temperature reading are you getting from the intake air sensor? Mine was way off, reading something ridiculous even on a cold start. Turned out to be a dodgy air sensor. I hope your problem is an easy fix too!

Yeah, car diagnostics pointed to the intake air temperature sensor. Error was stored in the error memory. What was the exact issue with yours? And did you sort it out yourself or did you take it to a workshop?

Yep, pretty much identical symptoms. I tried cleaning the air sensor first, but no luck. In the end, I had to get it replaced. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you really know your way around an engine. I took it to a workshop, they swapped the sensor, cleared the error codes, and it's been fine ever since. Best to get it sorted properly.

Thanks for the insight. Car's sorted now, faulty intake air temperature sensor, as suspected. New sensor fitted, cost 155€. Engine's running smoothly again.
