Mini Countryman diesel engine issues

My 2018 Mini Countryman diesel is exhibiting concerning symptoms: persistent check engine light, reduced engine power, poor engine response, and noticeable higher fuel consumption. Diagnostics point towards a faulty manifold pressure sensor. I suspect a substantial vacuum leakage is the underlying issue. Has anyone experienced similar problems related to the intake manifold automotive sensor? Any insights into potential causes beyond the sensor itself?

I had something similar with my Mini, not the Countryman, but the standard Hatch. Check engine light and sluggish performance. It felt like driving through treacle. Have you checked for any obvious vacuum leaks around the intake manifold or any damaged hoses? A faulty car sensor could definitely trigger those symptoms.

Interesting analogy. You mentioned vacuum leaks. Can you elaborate on where specifically I should inspect, given the intake manifold pressure sensor issue? I'm trying to trace the root cause before simply replacing the sensor.

In my case, it turned out to be a cracked hose near the intake manifold. The mechanic found it quickly with a smoke test. Honestly, without proper equipment, it's tough to pinpoint the exact location of a vacuum leak. I would suggest a workshop visit for a thorough diagnosis to prevent further issues.

Confirmed faulty manifold pressure sensor, apparently caused by a vacuum leak. Replacement completed, total cost 235€. Thanks for your insight; it proved invaluable.
