Mini Countryman engine power loss

I am experiencing a problem with my 2018 Mini Countryman diesel. The engine power is significantly reduced, and the check engine light is illuminated. Preliminary indications suggest a defective throttle valve, possibly due to a faulty accelerator pedal module or internal electronics. Could this be the cause, and what are the potential implications for fuel efficiency?

Reduced engine power and a check engine light on your Countryman, huh? Sounds familiar. I have a Mini Cooper, and I had a similar problem a while back. Have you checked the air flow? If the throttle sensor is faulty, it could be sending incorrect signals, messing with the air-fuel mixture. Is the engine idling rough? That was a big clue for me. Though honestly, it could be a bunch of things. I'm no mechanic, but I'd start with the basics before assuming the worst.

Thank you for your input. You mentioned checking the air flow. Could you elaborate on how you diagnosed that aspect of the problem?

Well, I didn't personally check the air flow myself with fancy tools or anything. I just noticed the engine was idling really rough and the fuel efficiency tanked. Then, when the 'limp mode' kicked in, I knew something was seriously wrong. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and prevent further damage. It could be a faulty throttle sensor, but they'll be able to tell you for sure. Don't risk making it worse by tinkering around if you're not certain.

Thank you for the information. I had the throttle valve replaced, and that seems to have resolved the issue. The total cost was 265€.
