Mini Countryman Fuel Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Mini Countryman Hybrid experienced a malfunction where the fuel flap release stopped working, affecting both the internal release button and the key fob. The issue was suspected to be a defective linkage or a problem with the electric actuator. After consulting with others who had similar experiences, it was determined that the electric actuator was indeed faulty. The problem was resolved by replacing the actuator at a workshop.

Neither the release button inside the car nor the key fob is working. The error memory also stores a related error. Could it still be the release mechanism if both are failing simultaneously?

Yes, that sounds very much like the electric actuator is the culprit. When mine failed, neither the button nor the key fob worked. Given the error code and the fact that multiple functions are affected, it's unlikely to be a simple linkage issue. It might be best to get it checked at a workshop.

Just an update. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The electric actuator for the fuel flap release was indeed faulty. 210€ later, it's all sorted. Thanks for your help!

I had a similar problem with my Countryman. The release mechanism for the fuel flap can be temperamental. Does the release button inside the car work, or is it only the key fob that's failing to open it?
