Mini Countryman Hybrid Engine Trouble

My 2021 Mini Countryman Hybrid is giving me some grief. The engine is running rough, and it occasionally stalls at idle. Naturally, the check engine light came on. It also starts jerking when accelerating which is not ideal. Could this be a defective ignition coil?

Rough running, stalling, and a check engine light? Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa a few years back. It was jerking when accelerating as well. Did you by any chance check the ignition coil? I had coil failure. Is the cable or plug connection of the component defective? It might be worth investigating before you start tearing everything apart.

Thanks for the quick reply! Ignition coil, huh? Where exactly is that located, and is there any easy way to check it myself before I take it to the shop? Vehicle diagnostics does point to a misfire but I am novice in mechanics.

Well, in my case, the ignition coil was the culprit, although it's worth noting that the root cause was a corroded connector. I would suggest taking it to a workshop, they should be able to run proper vehicle diagnostics and pinpoint the exact cause of the misfire. Is it safe to drive in current condition? Probably not.

Just wanted to close the loop on this. It was indeed a defective ignition coil. The vehicle diagnostics pointed to a misfire on cylinder 3. Replaced the coil, and the rough running and stalling issues are gone. Check engine light is off, and she's running smoothly again. Total cost was 95€, including the part and labor. Thanks for the input!
