Mini Countryman Hybrid Stalling and Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Mini Countryman Hybrid was experiencing a check engine light and stalling at idle. The suspected cause was a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system, possibly due to a defective activated charcoal filter. After considering similar experiences and potential causes like the purge valve, it was determined that the charcoal filter was indeed the issue. Replacing the filter resolved both the check engine light and stalling problems.

Interesting. When yours threw the check engine, did you get any specific error codes? I'm wondering if the air flow problems you mentioned were also present. Did replacing the purge valve solve it, or was it something else?

Yes, I had similar error codes related to EVAP system efficiency and purge flow. The purge valve was initially suspected, but ultimately, the charcoal filter was the culprit. Given your symptoms, I'd lean towards that. It's worth getting a smoke test done to confirm the leak's location before replacing parts, but in my experience, it's often the filter. You might want to visit a workshop.

It was indeed the charcoal filter. Replaced it, and the check engine light is gone. Stalling issue resolved as well. Total cost was 275€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds like a potential EVAP system issue. I had similar symptoms with my Countryman – check engine light and occasional stalling at idle. Have you noticed any issues with air flow or unusual fuel smells? It could be the purge valve or, as you suspect, the charcoal filter. System failure can be a pain.
