Mini Countryman Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mini Countryman was experiencing overheating, particularly in stop-and-go traffic. The suspected cause was an issue with the electric fan, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug connection near the radiator fan. Suggestions included checking the fan motor, relay, and coolant level. The problem was confirmed to be a corroded connector on the radiator fan, which was cleaned by a mechanic, resolving the overheating issue at a cost of approximately 95€.

Thanks, that's helpful. When you say 'relay', where exactly would I find that, and is there an easy way to test if it's gone bad without special tools? Also how can I check the fan clutch on this model?

Relay location will be in the owner's manual or a diagram near the fuse box. Swapping with an identical relay is an easy test. Fan clutch is unlikely on a model with an electric fan. Given your symptoms and suspected cause, a defective cable or plug connection of the component is plausible. A workshop visit is advisable.

Just wanted to update you. You were spot on! Took my Mini Countryman to a local mechanic, and it turned out to be a corroded connector on the radiator fan. They cleaned it up and everything's running cool again. Total cost was about 95€ as suspected. Thanks again for the help!

Vehicle overheating at that mileage could point to several issues. Is the radiator fan running at all? Have you checked the coolant level? A faulty fan clutch could also be at fault although less common in modern vehicles. Look specifically at the fan motor and relay.
