Mini Countryman Overheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Mini Countryman diesel is experiencing erratic temperature gauge readings, a check engine light, and delayed engine warming. These symptoms suggest potential issues with the cooling system, possibly due to a restricted or blocked radiator grille. A defective fuse was identified as the cause, and replacing it resolved the problem.

To further diagnose the issue, could you please elaborate on the conditions under which the engine takes longer to reach operating temperature? Does this occur primarily during colder weather or regardless of the ambient temperature?

Good point about the weather. I've noticed it mostly when it's colder out. Also, you mentioned 'radiator blockage', does that mean something inside the radiator, or just the radiator grille on the outside?

Just wanted to update you! Turns out it was a defective fuse, like you guessed! Cost me 52€ to get it sorted. Thanks so much for your help!

It appears you are experiencing issues related to your Mini Countryman's automotive cooling system. Is the radiator grille free from any obstructions? Have you checked for radiator blockage? A restricted cooling grille can indeed cause the symptoms you described, such as incorrect temperature readings and the check engine light illuminating. Addressing this promptly is crucial to prevent potential engine overheating.
