Mini Countryman starting issue

I'm encountering a rather perplexing issue with my 2023 Mini Countryman. It has roughly 110000 km on the clock. The car simply will not start. Diagnostic reports indicate a 'Terminal 15 ignition positive interrupted' error is stored in the memory. From what I gather, the most likely culprit is a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any advice on where to begin troubleshooting? I'm thinking it has something to do with the power supply. The repair cost is estimated around 95€.

Sounds similar to an issue I had with my old Ford a while back. The car wouldn't start, and it turned out to be a problem with the power supply to the ignition system. Did you check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the ignition or engine management? Also, have you tried measuring the voltage at the starter motor to see if there's a voltage drop?

Thanks for the quick response. I did check the fuses, but I'm not entirely sure which ones are specifically related to the ignition. When you mention measuring the voltage, is that something I can do with a standard multimeter, or do I need specialized equipment? I am not familiar with electricity, so I am afraid of damaging the car's systems.

Yes, a standard multimeter should be sufficient to check for voltage. However, given that the diagnostic points to a wiring or connection issue and you are not comfortable with electricity, I would strongly suggest taking it to a workshop. It sounds like the cost is pretty reasonable. It could save you a lot of time and potential headaches. I tried fixing my Ford and made it worse. It ended up costing me more at the workshop.

Just an update. The problem was indeed a faulty connection within the wiring harness, as suspected. The mechanic located and repaired the defective connection, and the car is now starting without issue. The final bill was almost exactly as estimated. Thanks for the input, it was helpful in narrowing down the possibilities.
