Mini One ABS Fault Diagnosis

Diagnosing a rather annoying issue on my 2007 Mini One. The ABS lamp is illuminated, and the system is reporting a complete failure. Error memory points squarely at the lateral acceleration sensor. From what I've gathered, the affected control unit is likely defective. Anyone else encountered this, and is that diagnosis plausible before I shell out potentially 1000€?

ABS light on a Mini is never fun. I had a similar issue a while back with my Mini One. Was also getting the ABS lamp and a general system failure warning. Did you happen to notice any issues with the steering angle sensor at all? That was part of my problem.

Interesting about the steering angle sensor. I haven't specifically checked that. Were you getting any specific codes related to that, or was it just behaving oddly? Trying to narrow down if it's purely the lateral sensor or something more complex within the electronic control.

No specific codes for the steering angle, just weird behavior. The whole system seemed interconnected. Honestly, with the ABS, lateral sensor, and potentially the steering angle all playing together, you might be best off getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. Could save you money in the long run.

Just wanted to give an update on this lateral acceleration sensor issue with my Mini One. As suspected, it was indeed the electronic control unit. A costly repair, but the ABS and traction control are now functioning as they should. Thanks for the input; it definitely helped confirm my suspicions before I took it in.
