Mini One Audio System Failure

I am writing to report an issue with the audio system in my 2007 Mini One diesel. The audio system is completely non-functional, and an error is stored in the error memory. Based on preliminary diagnostics, a defective display seems to be the likely cause. I wanted to inquire if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. I have not noticed any speaker crackle or faulty wiring, but there is noticeable static noise. Could this be related to a Bluetooth problem within the head unit, and is the predicted repair cost of 725€ reasonable?

I have encountered similar audio issues in my Mini. The symptoms you describe, particularly the complete failure and stored error, are consistent with what I experienced. Have you noticed if the issue is constant, or does it appear intermittently?

In my case, the audio issues were constant as well. The static noise and speaker crackle were present intermittently before the complete failure. Given your description and the constant failure, it does indeed point towards a display fault. Considering the age of the vehicle, electronic components can degrade. I would recommend a thorough inspection at a reputable workshop to confirm the diagnosis and ensure no underlying electrical issues exist before committing to the repair.

Thank you for your insights. Regarding the intermittent nature, the failure has been constant since it first occurred. There have been no periods where the audio system functioned normally, which makes me suspect something other than a loose connection. Did you also notice any static noise or speaker crackle before the audio system completely failed?

I appreciate the confirmation and advice. I took the Mini One to a local workshop. Diagnosis confirmed a defective display unit. The unit has been replaced and the audio system is now working correctly. The repair cost was within the predicted range.
