Mini One Diesel Clutch Pedal Switch Issue

So the 2017 Mini One diesel is throwing a fit. Getting a stored error related to the clutch pedal switch. The gear selection is showing in the speedometer, but it's basically useless, cruise control is dead, and now it wont fire up. Sounds like a faulty switch. I suspect a wiring or plug issue at the switch itself. Anyone else seen this before? I’m guessing it’s a safety mechanism thing kicking in. Gotta love these electrical gremlins. Before I spend 95€ on the part, anyone got any bright ideas?

Sounds like a faulty switch alright! Had similar gremlins in my old Seat Leon – limp mode, ESP errors popping up, the works. First thought it was the ECU throwing a tantrum. Does the brake light work when you press the pedal? Check the connections and wiring to the switch itself before you throw parts at it. Could be a simple fix.

Cheers for the quick reply! Brake lights are working fine, which is weird. You mentioned checking the connections – any specific spots I should pay attention to? Like, are there common failure points in the wiring harness or anything?

Yeah, the brake lights working throws a spanner in the works, but the clutch switch is a different circuit. Could be corrosion on the connector pins or a broken wire right at the plug – give them a wiggle. But honestly, with those symptoms and the error code pointing to the switch, it’s likely knackered. Save yourself the headache and get it to a workshop.

Just wanted to give you an update. It was indeed the clutch pedal switch. Replaced it and everything is working perfectly again. Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it. Glad it wasn't anything more serious.
