Mini One diesel engine issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Mini One diesel is experiencing reduced power, rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration. Diagnostics indicate a mixture preparation error, likely due to a defective injection valve or injector. The problem was resolved by replacing the faulty fuel injector, which restored smooth engine operation. The catalytic converter was inspected and found to be undamaged.

Indeed, the check engine light illuminated, and the symptoms you describe mirror my experience. When you encountered this issue, was the problem also related to the fuel injection system? Did you replace the injection valve?

Yep, sounds like the same problem. I didn't replace the injector myself; I'm not that confident with fuel injection systems. I took it to a workshop, and they sorted it out. It's best to get it checked properly because running it like that can't be good for the engine. Plus, you don't want to risk damaging the catalytic converter.

I appreciate the insights. I took my Mini One to a workshop, and they confirmed a defective fuel injector. The replacement and labor cost 515€. The issue is resolved, and the engine runs smoothly. They also inspected the catalytic converter and confirmed that it was not damaged.

Reduced engine power, rough running, and stalling? Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Mini, though it wasn't diesel. Did the check engine light come on? Have you checked the spark plugs? Could be a fuel injection problem, maybe a bad sensor messing with the air-fuel ratio. Has the car been jerking when you accelerate?
