Mini One Diesel Engine Running Lean
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Mini One is experiencing issues with the engine running lean, leading to reduced power, intermittent check engine light, and rough running with jerking during acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective injection valve. After considering other potential causes like the EGR valve and spark plugs, it is confirmed that faulty fuel injectors were the issue. Replacing the injectors resolved the problem, and the car is now running smoothly.

EGR valve seems okay, and spark plugs were replaced about 30000 km ago. Could a dirty intake manifold cause these symptoms too? What about the air-fuel ratio?

A faulty injector is a likely culprit given the symptoms. Issues with the air-fuel ratio could definitely be at play. To be certain, you probably should have it diagnosed at a workshop.

Okay, thanks for the input. Turns out it was indeed the fuel injectors. Had them replaced, along with the necessary seals and a general check-up. Cost me 515€, but the Mini One is running smoothly again.

Lean running could be a few things. Have you checked the EGR valve? Also, when were the spark plugs last changed?
