Mini One Diesel Troubles
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Mini One diesel is experiencing high fuel consumption, loss of power, stalling at idle, and smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause is an issue with the injection system, possibly due to a faulty or corroded connection. The recommended solution is to have a mechanic inspect and repair the injection system's cable and plug connections, which resolved the problem for a cost of 95€.

Smoke when accelerating, yeah, you got that right! So, this 'dodgy connection' you had... was it easy to spot, or was it buried deep? Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you have to bite the bullet and get a professional involved?

Yeah, mine was a pain to find. The connection looked fine at first glance, but it was corroded on the inside. I tried cleaning it myself, but it didn't hold. Honestly, save yourself the hassle and get a mechanic to check the injection system's cable and plug connections. Otherwise, you will be chasing shadows forever.

Thanks a million for the heads up. Turns out you were spot on! Took it to a mechanic, and it was a dodgy connection in the injection system, just like you said. 95€ later, and she's purring like a kitten again. Seriously appreciate the advice!

Sounds rough! Had a similar issue with my old Peugeot, though it wasn't quite the same. High fuel consumption and losing power, you say? Any smoke coming out when you put your foot down? Has the air filter been checked recently? What about fault codes? It could be a faulty sensor, but a defective plug connection also sounds plausible.
