Mini One Engine Stalling After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Mini One experienced engine stalling and a check engine light after a fuel filter change, with a suspected drop in engine power. The issue was thought to be related to a defective fuel pressure regulator, possibly triggered by the filter replacement. A faulty fuel rail pressure sensor was suggested as a potential cause, as debris from the filter change could affect it. The problem was resolved by replacing the pressure sensor, restoring the engine's performance.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm not super familiar with the fuel rail pressure sensor. Is there a way to check it, or is it something I should leave to a professional? I am just wondering how the fuel filter replacement could be related to this issue.

Replacing the fuel filter can sometimes dislodge debris, affecting the pressure sensor. While you could try checking the sensor's connection, I'd advise against further diagnosis without proper tools. A faulty pressure sensor can cause inaccurate readings, leading to the engine stalling and reduced performance. It's best to take it to a workshop to have the fuel pressure tested properly.

Just wanted to update you: it was indeed the fuel pressure regulator. The check engine light is off, and the engine is running smoothly again. Apparently, the error code was triggered when I replaced the fuel filter myself. I got the pressure sensor replaced for 45€, and now my Mini One is back to its old self. Thanks again for your help!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Opel after changing the fuel filter. The check engine light kept popping up, and the engine would occasionally stall. It could be a faulty pressure sensor on the fuel rail. The fuel rail distributes fuel to the injectors. Have you checked the sensor?
