Mini One engine stalls at idle
Summary of the thread
The 2004 Mini One experiences engine stalling at idle, with the check engine light on, indicating a potential issue with the IAC valve. The problem is suspected to be caused by heavy contamination of the air intake. Cleaning the throttle body provided temporary relief, but ultimately, the IAC valve needed replacement. A thorough inspection confirmed the rough idle was due to a faulty IAC valve and a heavily contaminated air intake, requiring throttle body cleaning.

Thank you for your suggestion. Could you please elaborate on the process you undertook to resolve the rough engine idle situation? Did you address the IAC valve directly, or did cleaning the throttle body suffice?

In my case, cleaning the throttle body provided temporary relief. However, the issue persisted. Ultimately, the IAC valve required replacement. Given the symptoms and error codes, a visit to a workshop for a comprehensive diagnosis might be prudent.

I appreciate your input. The Mini has been inspected and, as suspected, the engine idle was rough due to a faulty IAC valve and a heavily contaminated air intake. The throttle body required thorough cleaning. The repair amounted to 425€. Thank you for your assistance.

I experienced similar engine idle issues with my Mini. Have you inspected the throttle body for carbon buildup? A dirty throttle body can significantly affect engine idle, especially in conjunction with the IAC valve.
