Mini One Outside Temperature Sensor Issues

I'm experiencing issues with my 2015 Mini One. The outside temperature sensor seems to be faulty. I'm getting an error in the error memory, the air conditioning system won't switch on, the spray nozzles are frozen at cold temperatures, and the mirror heating isn't working. Could this be related to a faulty sensor? I read that a defective cable or plug connection could be the culprit.

Sounds like a dodgy ambient temp sensor. Have you checked the wiring and connector to the sensor itself? Where is the error stored, in the DME? Does the vehicle temperature gauge work?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the wiring myself, but I suspect that's the problem. I'm not sure where the error is stored; I only had it read out. I don't know if the vehicle temperature gauge works. Where exactly is the sensor located on my Mini One?

Yep, all those symptoms point to the ambient temp sensor. Common issue! The sensor is usually located behind the front bumper. A faulty connection is the most likely cause. If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the wiring harness yourself, a workshop can fix that easily, for about 95€. Better get sensor diagnostics done!

Just wanted to give an update. Took the Mini to a local workshop, and as suggested, the outside temperature sensor cable was indeed defective. They replaced the sensor, and everything is working perfectly now. Thanks again for the insights!
