Mini One Overheating Issue

My 2010 Mini One with low mileage has developed a problem. The check engine light is on, and the engine seems to be overheating. Could this be related to the active air flap?

Active air flap issue on your Mini One? Overheating and a check engine light definitely point to cooling system problems. Did you perform a diagnostic scan to confirm the fault code? Could be related to the thermal management system.

A diagnostic scan does point to the active air flap. Is it likely the electromechanism is defective?

Yeah, the electromechanism is a common failure point. If the diagnostic scan points directly to the active air flap and you're seeing overheating, that's likely the culprit. Probably best to take it to a shop.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Ended up taking my Mini One to a shop, diagnostic scan confirmed the active air flap was faulty. Repair cost me around 590€. All sorted now.
