Mini One start stop problem
Summary of the thread
The start-stop system on a 2018 Mini One diesel was malfunctioning, with the engine shutting off but not restarting automatically, accompanied by a warning light on the speedometer and an error stored in the memory. The suspected cause was a battery issue. It was confirmed by a workshop that the problem was indeed due to a heavily discharged or defective battery, which was resolved by replacing the battery.

Yeah the engine was cutting out and the dashboard lit up with a warning light. Was your issue really just the battery? How did you figure it out? Was there an error code stored in the memory?

Definitely check the battery. I had the exact same symptoms on my Mini. The error code pointed to a heavily discharged or defective battery. I'd take it to a workshop to get it checked out properly. They can confirm if it needs replacing.

Big thanks for your help. I got the Mini back from the shop today. They confirmed it was a battery issue like you thought. Cost me 290€ but at least the start-stop system Eco mode is working again.

Sounds familiar. My Mini One had a similar start-stop system problem. The engine kept shutting off and the automatic restart wasn't working. Was there a warning light on the speedometer too? I'd check the battery first. It's often the culprit.
