Mini One Tailgate Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2018 Mini One diesel has an issue with the automatic tailgate not opening completely, with an error stored in the error memory. The problem is suspected to be a defective tailgate hall sensor, likely due to a cable or plug connection issue. A similar issue was resolved by checking the sensor wiring and plug connection, specifically the harness connecting to the tailgate motor. After taking the car to a workshop, the wiring was confirmed as the problem, and the tailgate is now functioning correctly.

When you say 'sensor wiring,' are you referring to the wiring harness that connects directly to the tailgate motor, or is there a specific section of wiring I should be inspecting more closely? I am also concerned about sensor calibration afterwards.

Yes, specifically the harness that connects to the tailgate motor. In my case, it was chafing against the body. I'd check for any visible damage or loose connections there first. Honestly, I would recommend getting it checked at a workshop. I would not be concerned about sensor calibration.

I appreciate the information. The Mini went to the workshop, as suggested. The hall sensor wiring was indeed the culprit. The automatic tailgate is now functioning correctly. The repair was 95€, as predicted.

Sounds like a familiar problem. I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia's automatic tailgate a while back. The error memory kept throwing a fault, and the tailgate wouldn't open fully. Have you checked the sensor wiring and plug connection of the vehicle sensor? That was the issue for me.
