Mini Paceman ABS Fault Diagnosis

I am writing to inquire about a potential issue with my 2016 Mini Paceman, diesel engine. The vehicle has approximately 107570 km on the odometer. I am experiencing a speed signal fault, which manifests as the ABS lamp lighting up, traction problems, and a general failure of the ABS system. From my preliminary research, it seems the affected control unit may be defective. The projected repair cost is around 1000€. I am seeking insights from other owners who may have encountered a similar problem.

Sounds like a faulty ABS sensor. I had a similar issue with my Mini Paceman. Is the ABS light constantly on, or does it flicker? Did you check the transmission speed sensor? Sometimes a bad sensor can cause the ABS to freak out. The dashboard might show incorrect readings too.

The ABS lamp remains constantly illuminated. I have not yet checked the transmission speed sensor; is it difficult to access? And would a faulty sensor explain the traction problems and the failure of the ABS system?

Yes, those symptoms align with what I experienced. A faulty sensor could be the culprit, but it's more likely the ECM itself. It's not an easy fix, so I recommend taking it to a qualified mechanic. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the ECM if needed.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took the Mini Paceman to a certified workshop, and they confirmed that the ECM was indeed faulty. The repairs cost almost 1000€, as expected, but at least the ABS and traction control are working again. They mentioned the odometer reading being a factor in diagnosing it correctly.
