Mini Paceman AC System Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mini Paceman is experiencing an issue where the air conditioning system fails to switch on, with diagnostics indicating an undervoltage error. This suggests the A/C compressor might be shutting off due to this issue. Possible causes include problems with the relay switch, pressure switch, or belt tensioner. The solution involved confirming the undervoltage issue at a garage, where the error was cleared, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick response. Regarding the relay switch and pressure switch, did you experience any other symptoms before the A/C completely failed? Was the error memory also indicating undervoltage, or did it point to something else entirely? I'm trying to pinpoint whether the undervoltage is the root cause or just a consequence of something else failing within the A/C system.

The only symptom I had was the A/C cutting out intermittently. I don't remember the exact error code, but it wasn't explicitly pointing to the compressor. I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop. They should be able to properly diagnose the issue. It could be a number of things, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Just wanted to provide an update: it was indeed due to undervoltage. The A/C compressor was shutting off as suspected. The garage confirmed it and after checking the system, the error was cleared. The repair cost me 240€. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

Interesting issue. I had something similar happen with my Paceman, though I initially suspected a refrigerant leak. The A/C system would just cut out out of nowhere. Have you checked the relay switch and the pressure switch? Those were the first things I looked at. Also, is your belt tensioner in good condition? A slipping belt can sometimes cause undervoltage issues.
