Mini Paceman boost pressure control fault

I'm at my wit's end with this boost pressure control fault on my 2014 Mini Paceman. The check engine light is constantly on, the engine power is noticeably reduced, the response is poor and the fuel consumption is through the roof. I suspect a defect in a vacuum switching valve, but I'm not entirely sure. Any ideas what's going on here? Could it be compressor surge?

Sounds like a familiar headache. I had similar issues with my Mini Paceman a while back. Check engine light, noticeable power loss, the whole shebang. Have you looked at the bypass valve? A faulty boost controller can also cause similar symptoms.

Bypass valve, you say? I've been reading about those. Where exactly is it located, and is there a way to test it without specialized equipment? Also, could a vacuum leak cause a pressure drop severe enough to trigger these symptoms?

Yeah, definitely sounds like the same issue I had. The bypass valve is usually near the turbo. Honestly, without proper tools, testing it yourself is tricky. A vacuum leak could definitely cause a pressure drop, and limp mode. Save yourself the stress and take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly.

Thanks a bunch for the insight. Turns out it was indeed a faulty vacuum switching valve. Got it replaced for 140€ and the Paceman is back to its old self. No more check engine light or limp mode!
