Mini Paceman Diesel Error
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Mini Paceman diesel displayed an error indicating a defective temperature sensor on the heat exchanger, causing issues with the speedometer and air conditioning. The problem was suspected to be related to the AC control unit, but further discussion suggested the heat exchanger sensor was the likely culprit. After diagnostics and replacement of the faulty sensor, the issues were resolved, restoring normal function to the vehicle.

Interesting you mention the Passat! The engine temp gauge seems normal, rock steady in the middle. But, could a faulty AC control unit trigger the sensor error as well, or is that a red herring?

Ah, if the engine temp gauge is fine, that pretty much points to the heat exchanger sensor being the culprit. AC control unit could be involved, but it's less likely. When mine went, the garage confirmed it with diagnostics. Best to get it checked properly, but be prepared for a new sensor. Good luck!

Big thanks for the insight! Turns out you were spot on. Took it to the workshop, and yeah, heat exchanger temp sensor was kaput. New sensor installed and all is well now. Air con's back and no more error messages! Cost me 980€, ouch, but at least it's sorted.

Sounds like a dodgy temp sensor alright. Had similar gremlins with my previous ride, an old Passat. Engine cooling was all over the place. Is the engine temp gauge behaving normally or is that acting up too?
