Mini Paceman Diesel Lighting Issue

I'm having some trouble with the lighting in my 2016 Mini Paceman Diesel. It has about km on it. Sometimes the headlights won't switch on, even though the headlight switch is turned on. I've scanned the car, and it's showing an error stored in the error memory related to the headlight switch. From what I've read, the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the component. The estimated repair cost is around 95€. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Faulty lighting in a Mini can be tricky. When you say 'fault in the lighting,' can you be more specific? Do the dashboard lights flicker, or are the tail lights affected? Also, have you checked the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the headlight switch? An electrical problem like this could stem from a simple fuse issue.

Thanks for the reply! The dashboard lights seem to be fine, but the headlights sometimes don't switch on when I turn the headlight switch. The tail lights seem to be working normally. I did check the fuse box, but I'm not entirely sure which fuse is specifically for the headlight switch. Do you know which fuse number I should be looking for?

Okay, based on your description and the error code, it does sound like an electrical problem, probably in the area of the headlight switch or its wiring. If you've already checked the fuses, and the tail lights are working, the issue is likely not a blown fuse. The error memory confirms a problem with the headlight switch circuit. Given the estimated repair cost, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can diagnose the exact point of failure, whether it's the switch itself or a damaged connector, and repair it properly.

Just wanted to update you – you were spot on about the electrical problem. I took my Mini Paceman to the workshop, and they found a faulty connection in the headlight switch wiring. They replaced the plug and connector, and now everything is working perfectly. The total cost was 95€, just like they initially estimated. Thanks again for your help!
