Mini Paceman Diesel Tank Ventilation Issue

I am writing to seek counsel regarding a perplexing issue I have encountered with my 2013 Mini Paceman diesel. The vehicle is exhibiting symptoms indicative of a tank ventilation valve malfunction. Specifically, the check engine light is illuminated, and the engine has a tendency to stall when idling. Preliminary investigation suggests that the hoses may be clogged, thereby impeding proper ventilation. I welcome any insights or recommendations you may have regarding this matter.

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Mini Paceman diesel exhibited symptoms of a tank ventilation valve malfunction, including an illuminated check engine light and engine stalling at idle. The issue was suspected to be caused by clogged hoses affecting the ventilation system. A similar case suggested checking the purge valve and pressure sensor. After professional inspection, the faulty tank ventilation valve was confirmed, and repairs resolved the issue, eliminating the engine light and stalling.

I have a Mini Paceman as well, and I experienced very similar symptoms not long ago. The engine light kept coming on, and the engine would occasionally stall, especially at idle. Have you checked the tank ventilation system? In my case, the purge valve was the culprit. I would suggest getting that checked.

Could you perhaps elaborate on which specific components of the tank ventilation system were affected in your case? I am curious if the issue was solely confined to the purge valve or if the pressure sensor was also implicated. Furthermore, were there any discernible signs of hose degradation or blockage that you observed during your inspection?

Certainly. While I did perform some preliminary checks myself, I must confess that I ultimately sought the expertise of a qualified technician. As I recall, the primary issue stemmed from a malfunctioning purge valve, although the pressure sensor was also exhibiting erratic behavior. Whether the hoses were definitively clogged, I cannot say with certainty. Given the potential complexity of the system, and considering the possibility of unforeseen complications, I would strongly recommend entrusting the automotive repair to a professional.

I appreciate you confirming my suspicions. I had the vehicle inspected at a reputable workshop. The tank ventilation valve was indeed faulty, likely due to clogged hoses, as I initially suspected. The repair, including a new purge valve and associated pressure sensor adjustments, amounted to 175€. The engine light is now off, and the engine no longer stalls. Thank you for your assistance.
