Mini Paceman Door Lock Problem

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My 2015 Mini Paceman has developed a really annoying problem. The door just won't lock or unlock anymore. I'm suspecting it might be a faulty door contact signal, maybe a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Has anyone else experienced this? I've checked the fuses and they seem fine. Is there anything else I should be looking at before I bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Mini Paceman developed a problem where the door wouldn't lock or unlock, suspected to be due to a faulty door contact signal, possibly from a defective cable or plug connection. The fuses were checked and found to be fine. The issue was confirmed to be a defective plug connection in the wiring harness, not the door sensor, and was resolved at a workshop for 95€.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Door lock issues, eh? Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Mini, although I can't remember the exact year. Was your door switch acting up too? Have you checked the wiring harness around the door? Sometimes those car sensor connections get loose or corroded. Just curious!

Appreciate the quick response! When you say wiring harness, are you referring to the one that runs between the door and the car body? And how involved was it to check the door switch itself? Did you need any special tools? I'm trying to gauge how much of this I can tackle myself versus taking it to a professional.

Yep, the harness between the door and the body. Honestly, I didn't mess with the door switch myself. Figured I'd probably just break something else. Given it could be the car sensor or the wiring, I just took it to a shop. Saved me a headache, and probably some money in the long run. Is it worth the hassle when the repair is just 95€?

Just wanted to give you an update. Took the Paceman to the workshop, and you were spot on! They confirmed it was a faulty contact signal because of a defective plug connection in the wiring harness. The door sensor was fine, thankfully. Cost me 95€, which is a relief. Thanks again for the help!
