Cheers for the reply! A brake sensor, eh? The error memory mentioned something about the electric motor in the brake caliper being dodgy, but could that be linked to a faulty sensor then? What readings were you getting?

It is difficult to say definitively without proper diagnostics. However, it does sound like your mechanic's initial diagnosis of the electric motor in the caliper being defective is more likely, especially if the error message specifically mentions it. The sensor usually triggers a warning related to pad wear, not complete brake failure. I would advise you to have it checked at the workshop for vehicle safety.

Massive thanks for the insight. Turns out, just like you said, it was the motor in the caliper. 505€ later and it's all sorted. A proper brake fault is not something you want to mess with!

I had a similar brake fault issue with my Paceman. It could be a faulty brake sensor, which is a component that monitors the brake pad wear and sends a signal to the car's computer. Have you had brake diagnostics performed to check the sensor readings?
