Mini Paceman error messages and engine light

Alright, so my 2013 Mini Paceman is throwing a hissy fit. The engine light is on, I'm getting error messages in the infotainment system and on the speedometer. My scan tool says it's likely incorrect coding of the vehicle. What gives? It's like the car's speaking in tongues! Anyone else seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Mini Paceman is experiencing persistent engine light and error messages, with a scan tool indicating possible incorrect vehicle coding. Despite attempts to reset the codes, the issues persist. The problem was resolved by taking the car to a specialist, who performed a proper re-coding of the vehicle's computer, successfully clearing the fault codes and eliminating the engine light.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Opel a while back. Engine light kept popping up, along with error messages on the dash. I used a scan tool and it was spitting out random fault codes. Have you tried to reset codes using your OBD-II scanner? Maybe it's just a glitch.

Cheers for the reply! Yeah, I tried resetting the codes with my scan tool multiple times, but the engine light and the errors keep coming back almost immediately. Is there anything specific you did with your Opel to fix it, or did you just keep resetting the codes until it went away?

No worries! Unfortunately, just resetting the codes didn't solve my Opel problem either. Think of it like a computer that needs a fresh install of the operating system. The underlying problem was still there. In the end, I had to take it to a workshop, and they confirmed it needed a proper recoding. It's probably best to take your Paceman to a specialist. They can properly diagnose and fix the coding issue.

Just got the Paceman back from the shop. Turns out the car's computer needed a proper re-coding. They cleared the fault codes, and the engine light is finally gone. Cost me 360€, but at least the malfunction indicator isn't glaring at me anymore. Glad I had a scan tool to point me in the right direction, even if I couldn't fix it myself.
