Mini Paceman exhaust issue

That sounds eerily familiar. I had a similar issue with my, admittedly very different, Opel a while back. Check engine light, power loss – the works! In my case, it was also related to the exhaust system. Have you had the engine management system checked for error codes? What part of the exhaust system do you suspect is leaking?

Thanks! So, when you say exhaust system related, do you mean it was also a faulty sensor, or something more mechanical like a cracked exhaust component? And what were the error codes that came up for your Opel?

Yes, the error codes pointed to a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. Turns out a small crack in a weld near an exhaust component was letting fumes escape, messing with the sensor readings. If you suspect a leak, it's probably best to get it checked professionally rather than just replacing the sensor. Otherwise, the problem might just come back.

Big thanks for the detailed feedback! So, I took your advice and brought the Paceman to a shop. Turns out it was indeed a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, likely caused by a small leak in the exhaust system as suspected. They did a sensor replacement, checked the emission control, and all seems good now. The whole thing cost me around 265€. Hopefully, that's the end of it!
