Mini Paceman Mirror Heating Issue

Alright, I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2016 Mini Paceman. The mirror heating on both sides has stopped working. I've scanned the car with my OBD reader, and it's showing an error related to the mirror heating circuit. From what I've read, the most likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. I'm trying to avoid a complete mirror replacement if possible, as I've been quoted around 95€ for a potential repair. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, any tips on where to start looking for the faulty connection?

I had a similar issue with my rearview mirror heater. First thing I would check is the wiring harness that connects to the car mirror. Sometimes those connections can become loose or corroded, especially with age and exposure to the elements. Also, have you checked the relevant fuses for the car electronics? A blown fuse could also be the culprit.

Thanks for the quick reply! That's really helpful. When you say wiring harness, are you referring to the connector inside the car mirror housing itself, or further back in the door panel? And do you know which fuse number is specifically for the car mirror heating? I've got the fuse diagram, but there are a few that seem related to car electronics.

Yes, I meant the connector inside the mirror housing itself. It can be a pain to get to, but it's worth checking before you consider replacing the entire rearview mirror. As for the fuse, I don't recall the exact number, and it might vary slightly depending on the specific Paceman configuration. However, if you have the fuse diagram, look for anything related to 'heated mirrors' or 'rear window defogger,' as they're often on the same circuit. If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the car electronics, you can always take it to a workshop.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Took the Paceman to the workshop today, and they confirmed it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to the mirror heater element, as suspected. They repaired the connection, and the mirror heating is now working perfectly. Total cost came to 95€, which was exactly what I was expecting. Thanks again for your help!
