Mini Paceman Overheating and Coolant Leak

Alright, so my 2014 Mini Paceman diesel is acting up. Check engine light, overheating, and coolant all over the place from what seems like excessive pressure. Diagnostic points to a control unit communication error. Is it likely just a defective cable or plug connection? Anyone else seen this kind of software glitch before?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Mini. Overheating, coolant leaks, the whole shebang. Was yours throwing any specific diagnostic trouble codes? I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on.

Interesting. Did you also have the 'control unit communication error'? Any idea where the wiring issue was located specifically?

Yep, control unit communication error was the key! I don't know the exact location of the wiring issue, but my mechanic mentioned it was related to the data link. Honestly, after chasing ghosts for days, I just took it in. Maybe save yourself the headache and let a pro take a look?

Took the Paceman to the shop. Turns out it was a wiring issue as suspected. Control unit was throwing a diagnostic trouble code because of it. They fixed the connection and cleared the code. 95€ later and she's running smooth again. Thanks for the heads up!
