Mini Paceman problems with misfiring for some time now
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Mini Paceman is experiencing issues such as black smoke, check engine light, loss of power, and uneven engine running, which are suspected to be caused by defective ignition coils or misfires. A similar case with a Mini Countryman was resolved by replacing a faulty engine control unit (ECU), suggesting that the ECU might also be the issue here. It is recommended to have the car thoroughly checked at an authorized BMW/Mini workshop to accurately diagnose and address the problem before replacing any parts.

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Mini Paceman was built in 2016, has a petrol engine and currently has 96543 km on it. I'll follow your tip and visit the garage first before replacing anything myself. Do you have a recommendation for a good garage?

Hey, you're welcome! With your mileage, it could well be the control unit. I had my Mini Countryman at an authorized BMW/Mini workshop near me and can only recommend that you also go to a specialist dealer who is very familiar with Minis. They have the right equipment and the experience to diagnose such problems quickly and accurately. If you live near Munich, I can recommend the BMW/Mini branch in Drygalskiallee. They helped me a lot and the service was excellent. They also have a good car rental service if your car has to stay longer. I hope this helps you and that your Paceman will soon be running smoothly again! Keep us posted on what you find out at the workshop. Good luck and have a safe journey! 🚗💨

Hello and thanks again for the tips! I will definitely go to an authorized workshop, that sounds reasonable. I don't live in Munich, but I'll look around for a good BMW/Mini workshop in the area. I'll keep the tip about Drygalskiallee in mind if I'm ever in the area. I'll let you know as soon as I have the results. Hopefully it's just the control unit and nothing worse. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Thanks for the help and have a safe journey! 🚗💨

My mini 2012 engine N18 and I changed the 4 coils spark plugs and 2 injectors of cylinders 2 and 3 where I always mark error misfire codes 002EEA, 002F01, 002F00, 002EE7, 002EE1, 002EEB and 002EE8 and loses power, but the strange thing is that I turn it off and on and everything is erased sometimes spend days well and returns the same problem and also changed high fuel pump valves vvs I do not give the fault, any idea?

Based on the error codes and symptoms you've described, it seems like you might be dealing with a faulty engine control unit (ECU) or a wiring issue. I would recommend checking the wiring and connectors for any signs of damage or corrosion. If everything looks fine, you might want to consider having the ECU checked by a professional. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Mini Countryman (2018 model year). I have some experience with cars, but in this case I had to go to the garage. In my case, the control unit (engine control unit) was defective. My symptoms were very similar: black smoke, check engine light on, loss of power and vibrations at idle. At first I also thought it was the ignition coils, but the workshop quickly diagnosed the defective control unit. The repair cost me around 1000 euros. After that, everything ran smoothly again. I would recommend that you have your car thoroughly checked at the garage before replacing parts on suspicion. What exact year and engine does your Paceman have? Then I might be able to give you more details and tips on how best to proceed. Thank you and good luck!
