Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'AC relay', where exactly would I find that? And is there a straightforward way to check the pressure switch without any specialist equipment? It is quite frustrating dealing with this temperature control problem as it is getting hotter by the day.

The AC relay is typically located in the engine compartment's fuse box; consult your vehicle's manual for precise location. The pressure switch requires specialized tools to measure the refrigerant pressure, which ensures that the cooling system operates safely and efficiently. If the pressure is outside specified limits, the switch will prevent the compressor from engaging, preventing damage. Given your symptoms and the potential cost involved (about 1000€), a visit to a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair is advisable.

I really appreciate you taking the time to point me in the right direction with my Mini Roadster. It's pretty much what I was expecting, based on what I've read elsewhere. Dropped it off at the workshop this morning and they quoted me around 1000€ to replace the faulty valves and refill the refrigerant. Fingers crossed that sorts it. Thanks again!

It appears you're experiencing a common issue. Have you checked the AC relay and pressure switch? Also, is there any visible sign of a refrigerant leak? A malfunctioning pressure switch will prevent the cooling system from activating, even if the compressor is functional. Leaks can also cause a drop in pressure, triggering the same response.
