Mini Roadster alarm fault

I've got a head-scratcher with my 2012 Mini Roadster diesel. The alarm system is completely borked throwing an error about a siren communication fault. Error stored in the error memory. I'm suspecting a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone else wrestled with this kind of gremlin? I already tried to disarm the alarm, but with no luck. Any insights before I reluctantly hand over 95€ to the local garage?

I had a similar signal problem with my automotive alarm on a Passat a while back. The symptoms were identical. Did you already check the fuses related to the alarm system? That was my first point of fault detection.

Good shout on the fuses! I haven't checked those yet. Do you recall if yours was a specific fuse related only to the alarm, or something more general? I'll grab my multimeter and have a look. I'm just hoping it is not a broken wire somewhere because the alarm system without function is driving me nuts.

Yes, it was a specific fuse. Unfortunately, even after replacing it, the problem persisted. It turned out to be corrosion on a connector. I'd recommend a workshop visit; they have better fault detection tools.

Just wanted to close the loop here. Took it to the workshop, and as suspected, a faulty connection was indeed the culprit. 95€ later, my alarm is back in action. Thanks for sharing your experience; it really helped point me in the right direction.
