Mini Roadster Diesel Battery Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Mini Roadster diesel with 53047 km is experiencing weak starts and flickering lights, potentially due to a defective battery sensor affecting voltage and battery charge. The suggested solution is to have the battery sensor checked and possibly replaced at a workshop. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the battery sensor was faulty, and it was replaced to resolve the low voltage issues.

How would I go about checking the voltage? I'm not very familiar with car battery maintenance. What voltage readings should I be looking for to determine the battery health?

If you're seeing weak starts and flickering lights on your Mini, and you're not comfortable testing the voltage yourself, the battery sensor is the most likely culprit. It's best to take it to a workshop. They can diagnose the battery health and confirm if the sensor needs replacing.

Thanks for the insight. I took my Mini Roadster to a workshop, and they confirmed the battery sensor was faulty. The total repair cost was 315€. Hopefully, this resolves the low voltage issues and ensures proper battery charge from now on.

Sounds like a bad battery sensor. Have you checked the voltage when the engine is off versus when it's running? It's like checking if the heart is pumping correctly under stress.
