Mini Roadster diesel engine trouble

Alright, so my 2014 Mini Roadster diesel is playing up. Check engine light's on, and it's idling rough, sometimes stalling completely. Fuel consumption's gone up, plus it's chucking out smoke when I accelerate. Suspect it's the mass air flow meter; mileage is km. Anyone else had this issue? Thinking it’s a sensor failure.

Crikey, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Roadster. Check engine light was on, and the air-fuel ratio was all over the place. Have you had a look at your air filter? A clogged filter can sometimes mess with the readings from the MAF sensor and cause engine stalling.

Interesting, thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'similar', was yours also throwing smoke on acceleration? And did replacing the air filter fix it, or was it something more involved?

Yeah, mine was smoking a bit too, especially when I put my foot down. I tried a new air filter first but no luck. Ended up being the MAF sensor itself. Bit of a pain, really. If the filter doesn't sort it, I'd suggest getting the sensor checked out properly at a workshop.

Right then, just an update. Ended up replacing the LMM, and that seems to have sorted it. Total cost 365€. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
