Mini Roadster Diesel Water Sensor Issue

I'm experiencing a rather annoying issue with my 2015 Mini Roadster diesel. The check engine light illuminated, and the error memory indicates a water sensor malfunction. Furthermore, the engine is running a bit rough. From what I've read, a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor is the likely culprit. Anyone else experienced this? I'm trying to gauge the complexity of this before I potentially shell out 95€ for a repair.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Roadster. Check the moisture sensor and its wiring. It's a known weak point. Have you done any sensor testing to pinpoint the fault?

Interesting. When you had the problem, did your diagnostic tool specifically point to the water sensor, or was it more of a general electrical fault code? I'm trying to figure out if I can just replace the sensor myself or if I should take it to a workshop for more detailed troubleshooting.

Yep, the code reader flagged the moisture sensor directly. I'd still advise a visit to a workshop; they can properly check the auto electronics and pinpoint the exact problem before you start swapping parts.

Just wanted to give a final update on this. It was indeed the water sensor. The auto electronics guys ran a diagnostic, confirmed the electrical fault in the sensor's cable, and replaced the sensor. The malfunction indicator is now off, and the engine is running smoothly again. Thanks a bunch for your help!
