Mini Roadster Door Lock Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Mini Roadster diesel is experiencing issues with the door not locking or unlocking, suspected to be caused by a faulty door contact signal. This problem is likely due to a defective door sensor, as similar issues have been reported with automatic locks malfunctioning. The recommended solution is to have the door sensor checked and repaired by a professional, as confirmed by a dealer who identified an electrical issue with the cable or plug, quoting a repair cost of 95€.

When your door switch went bad, did you also have trouble with the automatic locks? Or was it just the door ajar light?

Yep, the auto locks were the first sign something was up. Then the door ajar light started acting strange. I'd say get it checked out; probably a defective door switch. The CAN bus system is complicated, and these intermittent electrical issues can be super annoying to diagnose yourself. Better to let a workshop handle it.

Just wanted to update that the dealer confirmed it's a faulty door sensor, specifically an electrical issue with the cable or plug. They quoted 95€ to fix it, which seems reasonable. Thanks for the input!

Sounds like the door sensor. I had a similar issue with the automatic locks on my Mini Cooper. Is the car sensor even detecting the door opening and closing?
