Mini Roadster engine issues
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Mini Roadster with 73,000 km is experiencing rough engine performance, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, accompanied by a check engine light. The issue is suspected to be related to a defective cable or plug connection. A faulty ignition coil is identified as a potential cause, affecting multiple cylinders and leading to the symptoms described. Vehicle diagnostics confirm the defective ignition coil and faulty cable connection, which are repaired to resolve the problem.

Interesting. When you say 'coil pack', are you referring to the ignition coil itself? And did you also experience jerking when accelerating? The Roadster has been doing that too.

Yes, by 'coil pack' I mean the ignition coil. And yes, the jerking when accelerating was definitely part of the problem. It felt like the car was hesitating. Given your symptoms, I'd bet it's a defective ignition coil. It is best to get a proper vehicle diagnostics done, but I would recommend a workshop visit.

Just wanted to update you I got it sorted. The vehicle diagnostics confirmed it was indeed a defective ignition coil, like you suggested. Apparently, the cable connection was faulty. All in, it cost me 95€ to repair. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Rough engine running and stalling at idle sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Mini Roadster. The check engine light was on, and it felt like the engine was about to give up sometimes. Have you checked the coil pack? It might be a faulty ignition coil. Think of it like a bad spark plug, but instead of just one cylinder misfiring, it can affect multiple ones.
