Interesting, so you're saying it's likely just a dodgy connection Is there any way to test the sensor itself, or is it just a case of checking the wiring and hoping for the best I'm pretty handy with a multimeter, but not sure what readings I should be expecting from the solar sensor.

Yeah, in my case with the Saab, it turned out to be a corroded connector. I'd check for obvious signs of damage. But honestly, at that price, and given the symptoms, I'd just let the workshop handle it. Sometimes, chasing electrical gremlins is like wrestling an octopus – you think you've got one tentacle under control, and then another one slaps you in the face.

Right you are I took it to the shop and as you predicted, the solar sensor cable was indeed borked. 95€ later and the heater is actually blowing hot air again. Thanks a bunch for the insight, I really appreciate it

Sounds like a similar problem I had with my old Saab. The HVAC sensor was giving me grief and the heating was weak. Have you checked the cable and plug connection of the solar sensor That's where I'd start looking for issues.
